Psalm 16:5

The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

God's Warth is Coming... Are You Ready?

You had better listen to the words of Jesus, “Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, shall enter, but he that does the will of my father in heaven.” If ye by the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the flesh, ye shall live. If you live after the flesh, you’ll die! The cross does not give us a minor shift or two with regard to a few of our ethical and religious values. The cross radically disrupts the very center and citadel of your life from self to Christ. And if the cross has not done that, YOU’RE NOT A CHRISTIAN! My Friend face it, young rogue, you’re not a Christian until the cross has radically disrupted the very center and citadel of your life! And brought you from a life of commitment to serve self…What are the focal points of the reign of your self? If you’ve gone to the cross in union with Christ, it’s been shattered!"

Things that glow in the dark....

Remember this little guy? Guess what happens at night?

Strange...

Small Is Better

I'll be the first to admit that I don't have very high tech equipment, but I still like to play around with macro photography. Here's a couple not so good shots from this evening:

Now, these little flowers are small. And I mean really small:

That is a 1/16 in jack for some perspective.

That the Small May Become Big

So just how small is this droplet of water? Well, lets put some similarly sized objects near it for comparison:

That happens to be Mr Constitution Destroyer numero uno next to the date on a penny.

A Quarter

Visible plant cells on the same petal.

The center of the flower.

A piece of ordinary crab grass.

The quarter again, but laying down.

And finally a comparison shot showing everything but the penny for a real size comparison. The droplet is the arrow on the upper right.

I love my new Nikon D5100!

Hale to the Republic of Texas

I'm finally moving out of the good ol' USA -well, sort of anyway. At least the people where I am moving would have you believe you moved out of the USA if you moved there. And that place is TEXAS! We can only hope that personal beliefs about their independence actually become a reality on the pronto.

I arrived in Texas on the evening of the 7th. A week later, the Lord had given me a job, a place to live, a gun store location, and a church. The Lord willing, I will be there within a month full time.

Until next time...

All in A Day's Drive 2 - 1,373 miles....

I did a post earlier with a high speed video of one days work. Well, now you can see a video of nearly one whole day's worth of my life - about 23 hours of it anyway. The video starts in Canyon Lake, Texas Saturday morning at around 9:30-9:45 central time. It ends around 9:30 eastern time in Youngsville, North Carolina. The camera was only shut off a couple times in those 23 hours, once for a Wal-Mart supplies stop in Mississippi, and twice for 15 minute power naps at rest stops.

Over the course of the trip, I drank 2 or 3 12 ounce cans of mountain dew, 2 cans of amp, ate some chips, some peanut m&m's and some granola bars to keep awake. I did not utilize any five hour energy drinks. I did take 2 or 3 power breaks - 15 minute stops where I laid back to catch a short power nap. Extremely helpful for driving a couple more hours if you start feeling tired. I turned the camera off during these stops.

I was the sole driver with no passengers (probably good since most passengers would have hated this drive).

Drive duration was in the neighborhood of 23 hours with an average speed of around 61 mph and a total distance of 1373 miles. Video was comprised of 77,899 pictures taken one shot per second and played back at 62 frames per second giving an equivalent average speed of 1.09 miles per second, 65.59 miles per minute, or 3935.35 mph, in playback. (I believe now that this video is uploaded, that youtube cut away frames to make it 30 frames per second, so the youtube version is not nearly as smooth as the original. You can watch a smoother version at 30 frames a second here.) I included the entire nighttime part of the drive because that was part of the trip and gives the viewer an idea of what it is like to drive that many miles in a straight shot. Also, to give you an idea of the time involved, you can watch the sun set at the end of the day, and rise at the beginning of the new day. Pretty cool.

This drive broke my previous record of 30 some hours to complete the drive from San Antonio to Raleigh back in 2010. That drive was in an RV, I took a few more cat naps, and I couldn't drive as fast (I think about 55-60 mph was my top speed in that old RV).

So why was I in Texas? To see about moving there. See my next post. :-)

Press Toward the Mark

Philippians 3:13-14 KJV

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
