The sign on the back of this monument honoring the Pilgrim Mothers reads, "They brought up their families in sturdy virtue and a living faith in God without which the nations parish."
I love this monument and I think it stands as one of my favorites of all the monuments in Plymouth, MA. It speaks to me of the Christian faith which gave the great fortitude and courage it took for these women to sacrifice everything to come to a new land, while, at the same time, it speaks of the Christian modesty and femininity with which Godly women are to adorn themselves.
